AYANA LEWIS

Servant Leader
Effective
Compassionate
Responsible
Strategic

Ayana Lewis is a life long-lover of education with a passion for serving under-resourced learners. Upon graduating from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, TX, she continued her education at Prairie View A&M University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. After serving 3 years as a 3rd grade teacher and a Junior Varsity Volleyball and Basketball Coach in FWISD, she continues her service in the Crowley Independent School District as a district model educator and currently serves as a 5th Grade Mentor Teacher, where she prides herself on growing her peers. Ayana finished top of her class at Concordia University – Austin, in fall 2016 where she graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership in  and also became a member of Pi Lambda Theta.

Her true passion is instructional leadership mainly because she is fascinated with the art and science of  pedagogy N. It is Ayana's sole objective to equip educators with the necessary tools and growth mindset needed to effectively transform student lives.

In her spare time, Ayana coaches the David L. Walker Girl's Volleyball and Basketball teams, volunteers as a tutor at the Aletheia Temple Church, and hosts charm school classes after school in Crowley ISD in which she teaches them poise, perseverance, and purpose. She also serves in the Fort Worth Alliance of Black School Educators.

The question is not whether we can afford to invest in every child; it is can we afford not to.”
– Marian Wright Edelman

Ayana’s philosophy is that true leadership is about inspiring others to intrinsically want to learn more and execute effectively. Good leaders don’t create followers; they create more leaders. It is also in her views that true educational leaders are disciples of servant leadership. She firmly believes in Marian Wright Edelman’s quote that “service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not just something we do in our spare time.” Good leaders say less and do more. Modeling servant leadership is vital because beliefs don’t make a person, behavior does.

Dynamic leaders always live by a code of ethics and TaKiyah’s CODE is quite simple. She always remembers to C.A.R.E. with INTEGRITY.

Correct with COMPASSION – She leads with compassion because compassion was given to her.

Act with ACCOUNTABLITY in mind – Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results.

RESPECT others – “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”

EFFECTIVELY complete tasks – Doing is one thing, making a difference is another.

INTEGRITY calls for acting with moral compass at all times and in all decision making.
